20 KILLED, 24 INJURED IN MASS SHOOTING AT US

ANM News Desk: At least 20 people have been killed and another 24 injured in a mass shooting in the US city of El Paso. Texas Governor Greg Abbott described it as one of the deadliest days in the state’s history. The massacre happened at a Walmart store on late Saturday near the Cielo Vista Mall, a few miles from the US-Mexico border.

INDIA AND US AGREE TO COLLABORATE ON DEFENCE INDUSTRY

ANM News Desk: Indian and American officials have agreed to pursue a policy environment conducive to collaboration between the defence industry and start-ups in both countries.

An understanding in this regard was reached during the 15th meeting of the India-US Defence Policy Group (DPG) on August 2.

The Indian side was led by Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra. The US was led by the Undersecretary of Defence for Policy, John Rood.

TRUMP IMPOSES ADDITIONAL 10% TARIFF ON CHINESE IMPORTS

ANM News Desk: President Donald Trump has announced that the US will impose an additional 10 per cent tariff on 300 billion US Dollars in Chinese imports.

The US President accused China of not being serious in arriving at the trade deal and failing to keep its promise to buy more American agricultural products.

In a series of tweet, Mr Trump said the new tariff, in addition to the 25 per cent on goods worth 250 billion US dollars that was previously in place, would come into effect from 1st of next month..

NORTH KOREA LAUNCHES MISSILES: CREATES DOUBTS PRIOR TALKS WITH TRUMP

ANM News Desk: North Korea fired two short-range missiles early on Thursday from its eastern coast, the first missile test since leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to revive stalled denuclearisation talks.

Japan’s defence ministry mentioned that the missiles did not reach Japan’s exclusive economic zone and had no immediate impact on national security.

The firing of ballistic missiles casts new doubts on efforts to restart denuclearisation talks after Trump and Kim met at the demilitarised zone (DMZ) at the end of June.

ANM News Desk: Addressing Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that no request was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to US President Donald Trump regarding any mediation in Kashmir.

The minister added that it has been India’s consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally.

ANM News Desk: India on July 22 night denied US President Donald Trump’s claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked him to mediate in resolving the Kashmir issue with Pakistan.

As he met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House, Trump offered to be the “mediator” on the Kashmir issue and claimed that he has received a request to do so from Modi during a recent meeting with him.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stated that no such request has been made by PM Modi to the US president.
