TRUMP DECIDES NOT TO IMPOSE QUOTAS ON URANIUM IMPORTS

ANM News Desk: US President Donald Trump stated that he will not impose quotas on importing Uranium. The decision is surprising as Trump had pointed to national security concerns in calling for restrictions on foreign metal and autos in trade negotiations. Uranium is a vital component for the U.S. nuclear arsenal, submarines and power plants.

US needs 5% of Uranium for military and electricity generation which comes from domestic production. Russia, China and other countries supply the rest.

Trump stated that  he was going to order a working group to use 90 days to make recommendations to increase domestic uranium production.

US PASSES BILL TO LIFT INDIA’S CAP ON ISSUING GREEN CARDS

ANM News Desk: The US House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at lifting the present 7% country-cap on issuing Green Cards.

The move will benefit thousands of highly-skilled Indian IT professionals. A Green Card allows a person to live and work permanently in the US.

The bill, however, has to be passed by the Senate, wherein the Republicans enjoy a majority, before it can be signed into law by President Donald Trump.

US WARNS IRAN OF BREACHING URANIUM ENRICHMENT CAP

ANM News Desk:  US President Donald Trump warned Iran over its imminent breach of a uranium enrichment cap.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had earlier stated that Iran will face further sanctions in response to the expected breach of the cap set by an endangered nuclear deal reached with international powers but from which the United States withdrew last year.

The top US diplomat added that Iran’s latest expansion of its nuclear program will lead to further isolation and sanctions.
