EERIE SILENCE AMID RESTLESSNESS IN VALLEY ON 38TH DAY

Yawar Shafi,Srinagar: Life across Kashmir crippled for the 38th consecutive day on Wednesday. Business establishments remained off-track while as authorities have eased restriction under section 144CRPC in parts of Srinagar including old city area.The civil line areas witnesses ease in curbs as private traffic was playing on roads while as some shops were also seen opened at some places.

Suitably, Landline services have been fully restored in Kashmir, however People have been facing a lot of problems due to communication blockade. This is for the first time since the eruption of militancy in Valley that government even blocked landline phones, though, suspension of mobile internet was a norm, but broadband services usually functioned normally. Even during 2016 agitation, landlines phones and broad band functioned smoothly.

In the interim, the state remains under lockdown since 05th of August when Union Government announced abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of state into two separate Union territories. Jammu and Kashmir will be the UT with legislature while as Ladakh province will not have legislature. Post this big decision Prime Minister Narendre Modi said that UT status for J&K in temporary in nature while as it will remain permanent in Ladakh region.
