Your favourite web news channel had broken the news about health committee recommendations on a phase wise withdrawal of lockdown from April 14. Government had accepted an expert committee report on creating lockdown hotspots and sealing those areas completely from the outside world. ANM News had also quoted from the report which mentioned that those localities with COVID19 cases will be identified and shut down completely from the outside world. Now it has become official. West Bengal government was the first to announce the creation of hotspots. Localities with quite a few cases of coronavirus like Haldia,Howrah, Nadia, salt lake, Egra, Alipurduar, Kolkata, north and south 24 Parganas, Kalimpong, Dum Dum, have been identified. Speaking exclusively to ANM News, President of Indian Medical Association and Chairman of West bengal Medical Council, Dr Nirmal Maji explained that the localities where there are a few cases of COVID19 will be completely sealed off and people will not be allowed to enter or leave their houses for two weeks. “Government will ensure supply of essential commodities directly to homes,” he said. There will be three fold security system in place. “Complete lockdown of affected localities is the only way to win the battle against coronavirus. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken the lead in organising meetings, identifying localities and insisting that lockdown conditions be extended to only those areas which have coronavirus cases. Although Odisha and Punjab has extended their lockdown till April 30, they have also identified local hotspots and are in the process of sealing them.
