QUARANTINED INDIANS FROM CHINA DISCHARGED

ANM News Desk: All 248 people at an Army camp in Manesar and another batch of 100 at an ITBP facility in Delhi, quarantined after being evacuated from coronavirus-hit Wuhan earlier this month, were discharged on Tuesday.

The remaining people housed at the ITBP camp will be released by Wednesday.

Military sources said India will send a C-17 military aircraft to Wuhan on February 20 to evacuate more Indians from Wuhan. All released persons were advised to remain self isolated for the next 14 days at their respective places.

AADHAR IS NOT A DOCUMENT OF CITIZENSHIP: UIDAI

ANM News Desk: After confusion over UIDAI’s (Unique Identification Authority of India) letter to 127 persons in Hyderabad, asking them to provide documents to prove their Indian citizenship, the central agency has now brought the Telangana police into it. UIDAI said that letters were issued after the police approached the UIDAI’s Regional Office in Hyderabad, reportedly stating that the 127 persons have obtained Aadhaar on false pretences and that a preliminary investigation found that they were “illegal immigrants who were not qualified to obtain an Aadhaar number”.

FM SITHARAMAN TO HOLD MEETINGS REGARDING DISRUPTION OF TRADE DUE TO CHINA

ANM News Desk: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be holding a high level meeting of Secretaries on Wednesday to discuss disruption in supply of raw materials from China after outbreak of Novel Coronavirus. On Tuesday, the Finance Minister held a meeting with Industry and other bodies to assess the impact of the outbreak and any disruptions posed by it to India’s trade.

The Minister stated that during the meeting, chemicals, pharma and solar equipment makers were very vocal about disruption in supply of raw materials from China.

The Finance Minister said, after the Secretary level meeting a discussion will be held with PMO and some response will be announced at the earliest. She added that it is too early to talk about impact of the virus outbreak on ‘Make in India’ initiative.  

3 TERRORISTS KILLED IN ENCOUNTER AT J&K

ANM News Desk: 3 terrorists have been killed during an encounter in a joint operation by the Army, CRPF and J&K Police in Tral of Pulwama district.

The terrorists  have been identified as Jangeer Rafiq Wani, Raja Umar Maqbool Bhat & Uzair Amin Bhat. All the terrorists reprotedly belong to the terror outfit ‘Ansar Ghazwa ul Hind’.

SAVING TRADE DEAL WITH INDIA FOR LATER: TRUMP

ANM News Desk: US President Donald Trump has stated that he is “saving the big (trade) deal” with India for later and he “does not know” if it will be done before the presidential election in November, indicating that a major bilateral trade deal during his visit to Delhi next week might not be on the cards. Trump is slated to mark his big visit to India on February 24 and 25. The US and India may reportedly sign a “trade package” during the visit.

Trump on Tuesday stated that he “liked Prime Minister Modi a lot” and that he is looking forward to his visit in India.

COVID-19 DEATH TOLL CROSSES 2000 IN CHINA

ANM News Desk: The death toll from the new coronavirus in China has reached 2,004 on Wednesday but the number of new cases have reportedly fallen for a second straight day, as authorities tightened already severe containment measures in the worst-hit city of Wuhan.

China’s National Health Commission reported 1,749 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infections, while Hubei province – the epicentre of the outbreak – reported the lowest number of new infections since Feb. 11.

The latest figures bring the total number of cases in China to over 74,000 with 2,004 deaths.. The city of 11 million people, where the virus first appeared last year, is under virtual lockdown.

Chinese officials have stated that the apparent slowdown in infection rates is evidence the outbreak is under control but global health officials mention that it is still too early to predict how the epidemic will play out.

KANGANA LOOKS LIKE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH IN NEW FILM POSTER

ANM News Desk: Kangana Ranaut’s look for her new film namely ‘Tejas’ has released and the actress looks daring donned in the uniform of an IAF pilot. ‘Tejas’ is the story of a daring fighter pilot, played by Kangana and is inspired on the sidelines of the force being the first one among those in India to induct women into combat roles in 2016.The film is set to make its entry into the boxoffice on April 2021.

The film’s announcement comes as the Supreme Court directed the Centre to grant permanent commission to all women officers who opt for it in the Army within three months. This step is a huge win for women in the armed forces as it highlights the Right to Equality.

FILMFARE WIKI VANDALISED: ‘GULLY BOY’ GETS ‘PAID AWARD’ TAG

ANM News Desk: The celebrated Filmfare Awards has now entered the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. With 19 nominataions for Zoya Akhtar directed ‘Gully Boy’ and critically acclaimed films including ‘Kesari’, ‘Article 15’ not getting much spotlight in the awards, movie buffs have expressed their dissatisfaction. The audience have claimed the Filmfare Awards to be biased and rather “sponsored” and “paid” to be in favours of particular actors and films. Naturally, #BoycottFilmfare trended on Twitter, as Kabir Singh and Shahid Kapoor stans, Akshay Kumar fans and lyricist Manoj Muntashir (who wrote ‘Teri Mitti’ from Kesari) chimed in about shunning Filmfare for being ‘fixed’.

Someone then edited the Wikipedia categories for Most awards and nominations for a single film in Filmfare awards. The words ‘paid award’ were added next to ‘Gully Boy’. However, the words were soon removed and changed back to the original content.  

SC APPOINTS MEDIATOR FOR SHAHEEN BAGH

ANM News Desk: Supreme Court of India appoints Senior advocate Sanjay Hedge as a mediator for Shaheen Bagh.

Earlier, SC asked who can be appointed to go to persuade/talk to Citizenship Amendment Act protesters from Shaheen Bagh. Names of Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde and Sadhana Ramachandran, came up during the hearing for being appointed as an interlocutor to talk to the protesters. SC has fixed the matter for further hearing on 24th February.
